Ruta Riley advises companies, investors, and law firms on U.S. export controls, economic sanctions, customs, and foreign investment review under CFIUS and the Outbound Investment Security Program.
Ruta has 18 years of experience in U.S. trade law, including senior in-house roles at Medtronic, Lyft, and Teledyne Technologies. In these roles she built compliance programs, trained business teams, and handled BIS and OFAC licensing.
Clients bring her in when a business decision turns on trade law. Typical questions are whether a product can be sold to a given country or customer, how to structure imports to mitigate tariff burdain, whether a transaction needs CFIUS or outbound investment review, and how to respond to a government inquiry. She represents clients before the agencies that administer these rules, including BIS, OFAC, and CBP.
Her clients include technology, AI, medical device, defense, and consumer goods companies, private equity and venture funds, and non-U.S. law firms that need U.S. trade counsel.
Ruta trains in-house teams and speaks on customs and sanctions, export controls for AI and advanced computing, tariff strategy, and foreign investment review. She publishes practitioner guides on these subjects.

Tammie G. Krauskopf

We partner with attorneys and consultants of Tammie Goldstein Krauskopf LLC. Tammie has over 30 years of experience helping companies develop strategies to minimize duties and taxes, avoid penalties and build strong compliance programs. She represents large and small companies across a range of industries including consumer products, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and food production.
Prior to forming her own firm, Tammie spent nine years in private practice as counsel at Bryan Cave LLP and special counsel at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP. She spent eight years as an attorney with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, both in the Office of the Chief Counsel and in the Office of Regulations and Rulings. Tammie was also a senior manager at Deloitte where she developed the international trade practice for the Chicago office. As an adjunct professor at The John Marshall Law School, Tammie taught customs and international trade law courses for 20 years.

He has served a range of One Lex clients on commercial topics, including product strategy, customer acquisition, and supply chain revenue growth.
With over 20 years of executive management experience, he has previously led numerous high growth efforts, including most recently as CEO of Blue Bear Protection, where he built a global supply chain platform to transform engagement and revenue opportunities for trading partners. He has worked extensively in North America and also served clients in Europe, Middle East and Asia.
